illich Mujica is a native from Caracas, Venezuela who presently resides in New York City. His musical influences varies from diverse rock sources such as Nine Inch Nails, Nitzer Ebb, Front 242, The Cure and Depeche Mode. This musical foundation introduced him to rock-infused Electronic Music artists such as The Prodigy, Daft Punk and inevitably to acts like Aphex Twin, Richie Hawtin, Sasha and John Digweed, Trentemoller, amongst others.
illich was one of the founders and resident Dj of the Techtonic Division crew. Together with Dj partners Luis Padron, whom he met at the School of Architecture at Columbia University and Navid Azadi, whom he met at Winter Music Conference in Miami; he coined one of the most respected dance music parties in New York City in the late 2000’s: “Techtonics”.
Through “Techtonics” illich had the opportunity to share Dj performance time with top global Dj / producers such as: Marc Romboy, Joris Voorn & Edwin Oosterwall, Guy Gerber. Through the past recent years he has also shared the stage with renowned acts such as Green Velvet, Radio Slave, Cari Lekebusch, Davide Squillace, Nick Curly, Matthias Tanzmann, Delete (from Fur Coat) just to name a few. illich has been hand-picked by several NYC power-house promoters to be Dj for parties and clubs like “Save the Cannibals”, Verboten, Parties 4 Peace, Le Bain, The Paper Box and Output.
Every dance floor in which illich plays is filled with an unique, eclectic, high-energy musical sense delivered in the form of sophisticated track-selection and refined mixing that leaves everyone always asking for more. illich splits his designer time with his Dj time to rock dance floors wherever he goes and as of lately, also with the creation of his own productions under MothLab Recordings imprint from 2013.
